Chelsea Physic Garden
Nestled behind high walls in the heart of Chelsea village and close to the River Thames, the Chelsea Physic Garden is London's oldest botanic garden. It was established by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in the 17th century in order to grow medicinal plants, and is now home to a unique living collection of around 5,000 different edible, useful, medicinal and historical plants.
We were delighted to be asked to create the tablescape for a 50th birthday celebration in this enchanted garden. As with all our projects, we embraced the history of the garden and the plants found within it to design the tablescape. We combined herbs with these plants, and scattered cocoa pods to reference the Garden's primary benefactor Sir Hans Sloane, who brought us chocolate from Jamaica.
We always strive to tell a story through our designs and to put these stories in context through the art of floristry. Each element of the design is meticulously chosen to bring them to life and balance with our client's brief.
